Team Logs Gulf of Maine Expedition
The following blessing was written and delivered by our good friend Al Johnson, recreational boating safety specialist with the Coast Guard, Northeast Region. It is a pleasure for us to gather on this shore where the seafarers of today still trod the paths cleaved by our whaling forefathers. We are here to give our good wishes and to invoke the Blessing of the Lord for the Gulf of Maine Expedition and to those, who under it's banner, will embark from the shore of Provincetown to commence the coastal trek down, around, up and over to the shores of Cape Sable. Those of us here represent a myriad of different faiths and varying levels of spirituality. While we may differ in our beliefs or courses of spiritual direction we ask, from those of us who have sailed the seas and seen it's power, for the Good Lord to bestow his blessing and shine his light on the Gulf of Maine Expedition and it's endeavors. Thusly, Lord, we beseech you to watch over Natalie, Rich, Dan and Sue, as well those who support or join them, as they make their way to raise awareness and caring about the ecology and cultural legacy of the Gulf of Maine. We ask for your guidance and together we pray that you grant our paddlers good weather, gentle winds and following seas. Amen. Photos by Ramsey MacDonald. |
